Carnaval Concerns

We're going to be in the eye of a loud drunk hurricane in a matter of days. Carnaval in Brazil. I can't wait. We're headed up to Salvador on the northeast coast for what's supposed to be a more "authentic" celebration. More authentic then the one they have in Rio anyway. I'm not sure if it's going to matter much as I plan to experience Carnaval in a rum filled stupor.

I'm not so sure about Sarah though. To be honest, I'm a little concerned about how she's going to handle it. Sure, she likes a good time, and maybe I'm just worrying too much, but it could be a long ten days.

I just have a bad premonition of lying in bed and hearing her ask if I can go tell the Carnaval people to keep it down. She needs her sleep, but I'm not sure we're going to be getting a whole lot of it.

I worry about a lot of things. Men grabbing her in crowds, her inability to samba. That sort of thing.

I met a Brazilian guy last week who told me I would have THE BEST TIME!!!! at Carnaval.

"You walk down the street man, and the chicks are just all over you."

"Yea, I'm married."

"Oh. Well if you're with a girl they leave you alone."

What girls are all over me? Was he talking about hookers? Add that to the list of things Sarah probably won't agree with.

As a brazilian fan, I must say a few things about spending Carnival in Salvador. It is really fun if you´re into crowds and noise. It's beautiful, Salvador has lots of nice places to see, but be aware that there are gonna be millions of people there, so it´s a bit complicated. Take really good care of your stuff, like cameras, watches and money. You and Sarah should know that all guys and gals (not hookers, just normal girls too excited about carnival)are looking for a lot of kissing and making out, and with all the drinking, they can´t really see who is into that or not. So, take care of each other! Last advice: when trying the local food, if asked if you want your food (acarajé, for instance) hot or cold, remember it´s no about temperature, but about spice. If you say hot, it´s gonna be REALLY spicy. So, watch out for that! Hope you guys have a really great time, it´s beautiful out there!

Wow. That would be way too hectic for me. I hate large crowds and being cramped. Good luck not getting molested. : ) Hope you have fun. Let us know how it was.

I've never been to Carnival but I've been to Mardi Gras, I know they are not the same but they are similar. You just have to let loose there and have fun. Throw your inihabitions to the wind. I had my breasts painted and it was a very liberating experience. sarah should do the same.

I'm doing Carnevale in Venezia this weekend...but only for one night. I don't think I could handle 10 days. I'll be taking the train there Saturday afternoon and returning Sunday morning at 5am (pretty much because I don't want to deal with a hostel). Excited to hear how Carnevale in Brazil compares to Italy! Best of luck with avoiding the creepiness as much as possible...

They were flames. I was 28. I wanted to smiley faces. I figured I already had the nose so all the guy had to do was eyes and a mouth. But no. He insisted that he was an artist and that was beneath him. They turned out really cool. Noone ever believes me so we have photo's handy. One in process and one when the job was finished. It's funny because the finished product picture was taken outside on the street in the heart of the French Quarter with my shirt completely open and people walking all around. yes, very liberating.

I did see your comments. I agree. But what I don't understand is why they care. That's the real question. Should they be on their honeymoon, boinking their brains out. Maybe they could make a game of it. Every time I post something, they should have sex or something

They are young and insecure. At my age, I feel pretty good about who I am. Criticize me and I'll be ok. I don't think they can handle it or like it. They do care about you say about them. I feel that they have lost sight about what a blog is all about. It's supposed to be free thinking, good or bad. That's how life is. Big brother shouldn't be watching.

But it's their blog and they can do what they please with it.

Maybe they feel that someone has to watch out for the newlyweds. They are the protectors of the universe. You don't have to say much for them to pounce on you. That's why your comments are taken down but theirs, which are direct attacts against you, are left up. S and B like you being attacked just as they like being protected.

It is so unfair and obviously one sided that's why I spoke up about it that one day. Yep, true to form my comments were taken down because I was against the protectors and for the evil one.

I think it's funny that they think we are the same person, I don't even know what state you live in.

No doubt eventually everything I say will be taken down also.
