Merry Christmas

It's Christmas day and we're sitting inside our hotel room watching "My Best Friend's Wedding". Actually, Sarah's watching it. I've only got one eye on it, because I'm writing this. I think the movie is helping her mood some. She's a bit homesick, poor girl.

We're in a smallish town in northwest India. I'm sick (again) and she's frustrated. Last night she couldn't sleep because of some electronic toy which kept playing outside our window for no reason. This morning, there was no hot water for her shower. The banana pancake she ordered was crap. Little things, sure, but they add up.

After the last straw that was the banana pancake, she told me she was homesick. She told me she misses having a routine. A kitchen. A hot shower. Totally understandable. I sympathize with all of these things. Then she told me that she wants to get a job and go to work. She wants to sit in front of a computer all day and check email.

That is crazy talk, I tell her. A job? Who wants to get a job? Not me. I'm not getting a job until I have to (meaning when this trip is over and we are completely broke).

She just feels this way because we're away from home on Christmas. She misses all the Christmas trimmings. The food and family and whatever else. Presents I suppose. For my part, I'm just semi-bummed that I didn't get to watch "A Christmas Story" seventeen times. Other than that, I don't mind skipping christmas for a year.

She's laughing at the movie now. Things are looking up.

Christmas is a time of togetherness. As long as the both of you are together then you can still talk about what would be going on if you both were is SF. Think of who would be there come up with funny things would be said by off the wall friend and family. Keep these people in your hearts and memories and you will make it happen.

PS the main site has been down for a few days now.

I like what Iceman had to say....can't you jazz up your diary a little bit. I'm not saying it needs to be x-rated, but telling us about some dumb movie she is watching is really lame. Why don't you get jiggy with it, and then tell us about that. Now that would be interesting....

Wow, I think we have a few jealous guys on here. :)

I can understand Sarah's thinking though. I don't know if I could do a year long trip around the world. Unless I had millions in the bank and was looking for something new to do.

I would start to get bored, and miss home. Especially Christmas presents.

I fully understand what your wife felt to get a job and have everything routin as it happened to me before too... Just about a year ago when I took a long holiday off and travelled some Southeast Asia and China, I felt homesick sometimes though it was so close to my country Taiwan... >.

Almost Happy New Year-- from Chapel Hill.. I would hope you and Brendan might pass by Canada (or visit Leo elsewhere) and hire on to the Screensavers.......The Attack of the Show is garbage, so don't go there! We do hope you all will get back to the "Old Days" of a Screensavers sype program-- Sarah needs to use her terrific technical skill with computers and Brendan likewise---

Happy New Year, and Peace! from your distant friend(s) in Chapel Hill, NC
